Music is an integral part of capoeira. Without music in fact there can be no
capoeira.
The main instrument is the berimbau which leads the other instruments as
well as setting the pace for the game. The songs are also important; they can
tell us about the history of capoeira, be lyrical poems, and can mock the
players or spur them on.
It is important that the student develops music with the same vigour and
commitment as is given to the movement of capoeira.
Please see 'instruments' to find out more about the specific types of intrument used in the jogo (game) of capoeira - and all students should make sure they choose some song 'lyrics' to revise what we've previously learnt...you can't use the excuse you've lost your printout now! They'll be plenty more added soon so you wont be able to use that excuse either!
